Celebrating Fathers Day- Brunch

I don’t know about you but I always find Fathers Day a tricky celebration. When it comes to gifts both my Dad and my Husband are difficult to buy for!! This leaves a lot of last minute panic buying!! My Dad is always happy with a good bottle of red and some toffee, and David has a very sweet tooth so we pile him up a hamper of goodies!

One of my favourite ways to celebrate a special occasion is with brunch; in June this can hopefully be in the garden or as a picnic ready to take to the beach or park. On Fathers Day we will be having a simple brunch made special with a few additions.

The menu can be as simple or as extravagant as you like…  simple pastries and berries, or smoked salmon bagels with yummy cream cheese. Plus lots of coffee and maybe a Bucks Fizz (or two!).

I also like to have a special cake for a special occasion. To jazz up my Fathers Day cake this year I have made some very simple bunting using some twine and a Boden envelope!!

Its super simple to make.

  1. Cut the envelope (or pretty paper) up into your bunting flags.
  2. Cut your twine or ribbon to the length you require for your cake.
  3. Carefully attach the flags to the twine with glue or tape (I folded the tops over and stuck with tape).
  4. Attach your twine to straws or kebab sticks ready to pop into your cake!

I can’t wait to see what my bunting lots like on my homemade cake come Sunday! I will be sharing on my Instagram!!

What plans do you have for Father’s Day? Will you be celebrating at home?
