English Cottage Garden Style

I dream of having a beautiful big garden filled with lots of pretty blooms that I can use to style my cups of tea for my Instagram page! Somewhere to sit and sip Pimms on a sunny afternoon or to spot butterflies and bees with R and H as they glide among the flowers.

In reality I have a tiny patch with a lot of shrubs and some fake grass!! This year I want to get better at gardening and I want to add these beautiful English Cottage Blooms to my little patch. I want to create a little tiny country garden behind our little house in the town.

There is a lot I need to learn about gardening and plants but when it comes to home styling I am pretty confident! So to start my little oasis off I have chosen some very pretty pieces from Homesense to begin to give my garden some Cottage Style.

The first thing I picked up when I entered my local store were these gorgeous cushions. They are designed to go outside and are water resistant which is fabulous. They have beautiful blooms printed all over them and they will look lovely on my garden sofa. They are priced at £19.99 for two.

We love eating outside so as soon as I saw these melamine plates I knew I had to have them. They are really thick and look and feel like china. I love the pretty floral pattern on them. These were £3.99 each and I brought four. Although I am tempted to go back and get more for when we have guests!

My next item was this super cute garden sign. This is going to hang with pride of place over my new flower beds! I just loved the saying ‘Flowers feed the soul’ this is something I really believe in. Pretty blooms always spread cheer! It was priced at £5.99.

Now to have a cup of tea, a slice of cake and read some gardening books!

  1. I think dressing your garden is about more than flowers so you’re certainly heading in the right direction. I love the bright cushions and faux china plates. This year we are chucking mixed seeds all over the flower beds to create an eclectic look at very little effort, you can get those in cottage garden mixes to take the hassle out of the job #homeetc

  2. I love the cushions! I need to get some new seat covers for outside, something like that would be great. Growing flowers is definitely easier than you think – go for it!! #HomeEtc

  3. I agree with Louisa above! It doesn’t necessarily have to be with plants and flowers. Dressing your garden could be with pots and lanterns, mirrors and fairy lights! I’ve just got another mirror for our garden! So exciting trying to work out the best place for it 🙂 Thanks so much for linking up Carly xx #HomeEtc
