May the 4th Be With You #Legolandtips

Star Wars and Lego… H most favourite things in the whole universe (bar tea and biscuits!!). When I heard Legoland were having a Star Wars Day it was a must adventure for us. We knew H would absolutely love it and we were sure right!!

We live about an hour and a half drive away from the resort so its an easy day trip for us. We always aim to be arriving by 9.30am. Although the actual park and the rides do not open until 10am its a good idea to arrive early. This way you can buy tickets, have a look at the Lego models in The Beginning or as we do grab a coffee and go to the toilet!! We then usually get in a queue to head into the park and head straight to one of the big rides (More about this in a minute!).

For the Star Wars Weekend Legoland had arranged an opening show in Miniland and this opened straight away. This was fantastic as all the Characters from the films were walking around Miniland. H could not believe his eyes!!! He ran from Storm Trooper to Jedi, Hid from Darth Varder and chatted to Princes Leila. It was so well organised and it was great to see all the characters alongside the amazing models within Miniland.

I think one of the best tips we have learnt is to choose a big ride to head to first as these will have much longer queues as the day goes on. Our favourites are Driving School, Laser Raiders and Atlantis Submarine Voyage. These all get really busy and its worth heading straight to one of these first.

I usually take a bag with lots of snacks in to help the time go a bit quicker when we are in the queues. Legoland is really good at putting things out to keep the children entertained. There are models to look at, bricks to play and build with and even a climbing area at the Pirate Falls ride.

For lunch I would definitely recommend one of the Buffet restaurants. We love City Walk Pizza and Pasta in Heart Lake City. For just under £40.00 a family of four can eat as much pizza, pasta and salad as they fancy and it is all delicious!! The price also includes unlimited refillable soft drinks. We like to have about 45minutes to sit down and rest; this gives everyone a break and the children need a little rest as its a lot of walking! My tips for this restaurant is to either ensure you get there for 12 0’clock so you don’t have to queue to get in or to visit late in the afternoon as they often have a kids eat free deal!

There are many rides and attractions which do not have big queues such as the Star Wars Miniland Model Display, Brickville outside play area, Dessert Chase Carousel and Fairy Tale Brook. The Splash area in Duplo Valley is also fantastic, so if its a hot day don’t forget swimwear and towels (although if you do there is a great shop next to it!).

During special events there are usually lots of additional activities taking place such as shows, colouring activities and Lego builds. R and H both enjoyed Droid building; which involved building your own R2D2 or C3PO with Lego bricks and then having it displayed on the droid stand. These activities give a great break from the queues and allow the children (and adults!) to get hands on.

Another family favourite for us is the Pirate Show at the Heartlake Harbour Arena; we always visit here in the afternoon and arrive at the arena about 20 minutes before the show starts. We have always managed to get a seat and have enjoyed the show with a coffee or an ice cream. Its another rest if you have little ones and the show is fab! I dare you not to Sing a Long to the Pirate Song!!

There is so much to see and do at Legoland and I really would recommend it to everyone with children. The special events are fantastic and lots of thought and effort goes into them. We once again have made some wonderful memories at Legoland. H loved it so much this time he is planning a Lego birthday!!
