Making Easter Plans

In this house everyone (maybe not my husband!) is just as excited about Easter as they are Christmas. Every time we go to pick some milk up in M&S, H has to look at the vast egg selection and talk about his plans. When anything Easter is mentioned R says “remember mummy we will be at Nanny’s for the great egg hunt”.

So planning some celebrations for my favourites is something I adore doing. I love that already they remember these special times and talk about them with such delight. I always begin my planning by looking at my Celebrate book; which is written by Pippa Middleton. I love this book as a starting point for all celebrations. It has lovely photos and some great ideas. I jot down my ideas and plans; I check out Pinterest and NOTHS for interior and party inspiration and I get to work.

This year I have a few things planned which will keep R and H happy and excited. Firstly we will add our Easter decorations around the house; this will include bunting, spring flowers and my favourite thing- our Easter Tree. We basically use a branch with blossom on or some pussy willow in a vase and then adorn it with little eggs, mini bunting and chick decorations. It always looks like it is heavily weighed down and will tip at any moment (less is not more when children decorate!).

Then we will kick of the celebrations with an Easter Brunch. Celebration breakfasts are my thing at the moment!! I am thinking bunny shaped pancakes and dippy eggs and soldiers in Easter china.

We will make Easter baskets and hampers for our loved ones filling them with homemade goodies and M&S treats (can’t let H down!).

Then we are going to host an Easter cookie decorating party for some of our favourite little ones, complete with my most favourite party must have… A beautifully styled dessert table.

We have booked breakfast with the Easter Bunny for a little treat for R and H; and I am sure at some point over the long weekend we will visit our local farm.

The main event every Easter Weekend is ” The Great Egg Hunt”. This always takes place at my Mum and Dad’s house. They have a huge garden which means that lots of eggs are hidden and then a crazy excited gang (R, H, my two brothers, my sister in law Beck and sometimes Grandad if there isn’t football or golf on Tv!) head out on the search.

My two adore it… They literally burst from the excitement of the the hunt and being with the people who love them. They chase round the garden looking in all the trees and bushes to see where the treats are hiding. Then we usually have an egg and spoon race too. Instead of the traditional roast we had Easter Afternoon Tea last year. This was delicious and is definitely on the cards again for this year.

So I am now in full planning mode and will be sharing the plans, ideas and events on the blog during the lead up to the Easter weekend. Make sure you follow A Cup Full of Glitter so you don’t miss any. I would love to hear what your plans are for the coming weeks? Do you have any special Easter traditions?
