A Mothers Day Tea Party

Now I love an excuse to celebrate. An excuse to make some pretty cakes and to get out some beautiful decorations. This post is about a tea party I styled for Mothers Day. I used some of my favourite things from Party Pieces for this.

To start with I added a table runner to our white coffee table. These come on a roll and they tear, so you can use them as often as you need with the rest safely on the roll still (great for easy storage). I then collected my favourite plain white tea set and cake stands from around the kitchen.

I put these lovely paper straws in the milk jug and added a “Eat Me” pick from the Truly Alice range. These are adorable and come in a pack with a variety of different characters. They look great pushed into cakes to as you can see in the Victoria Sponge.

I also used the paper plates, napkins and mini cake domes from the Truly Alice range. They are all so cute and everything is fantastic quality. The plates are a perfect size for a Tea Party as they are slightly smaller than a normal paper plate.

The signs are also part of the Truly Alice range, in the summer I am planning on using these around the garden hung in trees. But for now I placed one on the table and hung some from the backdrop.

The back drop is probably my favourite thing about the whole set up. Firstly because it was super simple to do and secondly because I love paper decorations. You can find a whole range of paper decorations here. For the actual backdrop I used my children’s puppet theatre!! Covered with a pink fleece blanket from R bed! It was a last minute idea and I am so pleased with it.

I made some cake bunting which I added to the Victoria Sponge and then I made some mini cupcakes for the domes and the tiered stand (will post a how to later in the week). You could add sandwiches and scones to make it a full on Afternoon Tea Party!!

The finishing touches were the rose petals scattered around the table and the roses in the tea cup. The whole set up was super quick and looked beautiful. R and I enjoyed a little Saturday afternoon celebration together.

What are your plans next Sunday for Mothers Day? Are you going to make anything special?

I purchased all these items myself but I have added the links because they really are lovely! I am now planning our Easter celebrations! You can find the full tea party range Here.
